TRAVEL INFORMATION

Albany County Tourism Board

     By Air

There are two ways to travel to Laramie by air.

  1. Fly into Denver International Airport (DIA) and rent a car, van or utilize Colorado Green Ride.  Colorado Green Ride costs about $75 each way, and will deliver you directly to the Hilton Garden Inn.  For an additional $10, they will deliver you/pick up to a specific destination point.  They are reliable and do a good job.

There are dozens and dozens of rental car options at DIA.  Depending on the route taken, Laramie is about 125-150 miles from DIA.  It is a very quick trip (pending weather!).

  2. Fly into Laramie Regional Airport (LAR), located about 4 miles west of campus and hotels.  Only the Hilton has a pick-up/delivery van.  If you fly directly to Laramie, it is best to utilize United Airlines or its subsidiaries as tickets are much more reasonable.  The flight lasts about 30 minutes.  You can get some pretty good prices if you book ahead.

Car rental options at the airport are limited to Hertz.  They have fairly limited hours, so you must book ahead.  (307) 745-0500 or Hertz

Enterprise Rental Car is located in town at 517 South 3rd, (307) 721-9876.  They offer a good service and are reasonably priced.

If you make arrangements to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, service to and from the airport is available at no charge
     By Train
There is no train service to or from Laramie.
     By Bus
Greyhound Bus Line service is available.  The bus stop drop-off/pick-up is located 1300 South 3rd Street (307) 745-4536 by the Ramada Inn.  This is about 2 ½ miles from campus.
    By Car
Interstate 80 runs east/west directly around Laramie.  Interstate 25 runs north/south 45 miles east of town.  Highway 287 cuts a diagonal from Fort Collins, 65 miles southeast of Laramie.  See car rental information under "By Air" heading above.

   Local Transportation in Laramie:

You can download a campus Bus Tracking App, great for travel on campus. More information to come!

PARKING

Transit and Parking Services offer day permits.  We will have these available for purchase at the conference registration table, BCPA Lobby, for $6.00 p/day.  You can purchase as many of these as you need for the days you are here. Permits are required M-F only in many sections of campus.  These allow visitors to park in "A", "C", and "R" lots.

Parking passes are not needed on Saturdays and Sundays for most "A" and "C" lots including the lot immediately north of BCPA and the large Union/Half-Acre parking lot.  BEWARE, however, as there are some spaces west of BCPA designated as "24-hour" spaces--so if you are without a parking pass for Saturday, March 12, be sure and read the posted signage.  Best to park north of BCPA on Willett Road side of the building, or use the lot at the Union/Half-Acre.

You may also purchase permits at Transit and Parking Services, 462 N. 10th Ave., 8:00-5:00 M-F, and they can be purchased at the Wyoming Union Information Desk as well.

There is some metered parking in the lot north of BCPA and near the Union/Half-Acre.  The fee for metered parking is 50 cents p/half-hour.  Most meters are limited to 2-hour parking.

Temporary "pay-by-the-hour" parking spaces are available on the northeast side of the Union/Half-Acre parking lot. It is open to anyone for a fee of $1.00/hour for the first 2 hours, and $2.00/hour thereafter.  Credit card payment only.

There is free parking in the Ford Stadium Lot next to War Memorial Stadium (just across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn) on the south side of the lot.  This is about a 10 minute walk the BCPA where many activities occur.  It is an additional 7 minute walk to the Union and Half-Acre, then an additional 5 minutes to get to the Arts and Sciences Auditorium.  These venues are rather in a straight line, running east and west relative to each other.

Unless you are really well-equipped for the cold, walking from late-night venues (A&S Auditorium Wednesday and Saturday) back to the Hilton (closest) or to the Holiday (farther) or to the Hampton (yet farther) is ill-advised.
