Why be an IBOC sponsor?

On October 26-30, over 300 representatives of more than 100 international bird observatories from around the globe will gather in Cape May, New Jersey to convene the Second International Bird Observatory Conference (IBOC). New Jersey Audubon’s Cape May Bird Observatory is proud to serve as the host for the conference.

Bird observatories conduct and support observation-based science focused on migratory and native bird species around the globe. The information gathered is used to support a wide array of conservation activities, including habitat protection, government policy, ecotourism and protecting species in decline.

Hailing from five continents, these bird observatories annually attract millions of bird enthusiasts in person and online with educational programs, scientific research and community projects. They also serve as key players working with national and local governments to promote conservation. And together, bird observatories are cooperating along migratory flyways to share critical data and address conservation challenges.

Funds are needed to offset conference registration costs, underwrite scholarships for overseas bird observatory attendees and defray travel expenses.
