CAL-ABOTA Allerton Garden Guided Tour

(minimum of 20 participants required)
Located on the south shore of Kauai, Allerton Garden is a landscape architecture masterpiece named one of the 50 Places of a Lifetime by National Geographic Traveler. It is a paradise transformed through time by the hands of a Hawaiian Queen, a sugar plantation magnate, and, most significantly, an artist and an architect. Guided tours of the Allerton Garden are part garden tour, part exhibit and entirely unique. You will be guided through expertly crafted garden rooms that feature exotic plants, sculptures and water features. This place has a rich history as a Hollywood film location for many notable movies and TV shows. See the towering roots of the famous Moreton Bay fig trees featured in blockbusters like Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean. Before arriving back to the hotel, make a stop at Spouting Horn lookout.

Departure time from the hotel is 8:30 am and approximate arrival time back to the hotel is 12:30 pm. Actual tour duration at the garden is 2.5 hours. The cost is $78 per person and includes roundtrip transportation, entrance fees, guided tour, bottled water and gratuities to the driver and guide. Comfortable shoes and sunscreen recommended. 72-hour cancelation policy applies.

Friday, November 8 (8:00 am-1:30 pm)
CAL-ABOTA Mountain Tubing Down Kauai’s Historic Irrigation System
(limited to 40 participants) WAITLIST ONLY
Calling all ABOTA Adventurers! Let’s go tubing down the historic sugar plantation ditch and tunnel system. This old sugar plantation irrigation system once irrigated vast sugar crops until sugar was taken out of production in 2000. In January 2003, Kauai Backcountry opened a section for exclusive tubing tours. This water system runs through some of the most beautiful and remote land on the island. It includes spectacular views of the mountains and Waialeale Crater. The waters which originate near the top of Mount Waialeale, one of the wettest spots in the world, are channeled through ditches and tunnels hand-dug by plantation workers over a century ago. The gently flowing waters, beautiful scenery, flumes and tunnels are combined for a relaxing, fun and fascinating experience. This is truly unique to Kauai. In fact, it’s the only tubing activity of its type on the island and Backcountry is the only eco-tour company with access to the 17,000 acres of former plantation lands.

We will have two groups of 20 people so the maximum for this tour is 40 people. Sign up early because the spots will fill up quickly! Both groups will depart from the hotel at 8:00 am and arrive back to the hotel at approximately 1:30 pm. The first group will start their adventure at 9:00 am after a 30-minute orientation and finish at 12:00 pm. The second group will start at 9:30 am after their 30-minute orientation and finish at 12:30 pm. During orientation, you will need to sign waivers and be fitted for glove, a helmet and headlamp. Lunch is included and will be served picnic style. You will want to bring: secure water shoes, swimsuit or clothing that can get wet, a towel, a change of clothing, sunscreen, a hat and bug repellent. Water shoes (sizes 5-12) are available for rental. No flip flops allowed.

The cost is $190 per person and includes roundtrip transportation, the activity, lunch and gratuity to the guides and driver. Space is limited! 72-hour cancelation policy applies.

This tour is private to CAL-ABOTA and is limited to 40 participants. Includes roundtrip transportation.
