Elements & Techniques of the BJD with Joe MacPhale

    
Master Artist, Joe MacPhale of Ancient Whispers, will be teaching a class on the Elements & Techniques of BJD where students will learn to design the joint placement and construction of the BJD.  Students will finish one (1) joint contstruction and placement. This class requires advanced skill levels and students should have the knowledge of how to fully sculpt a doll.  Materials provided include Polymer clay, pins, glue and sandpaper.  Students should bring sculpting tools, jewelry pliers, Xacto knife, round nose pliers, needle nose pliers, wire cutters, white small flat brushes and close-up glasses or hand-free magnifier if neeed. For more information on the class, contact ancientwhispers3@aol.com

Sculpting a Baby Doll with Beverly Stoehr

Join Beverly Stoehr, renowned doll artist and sculptor, and learn how to sculpt a baby doll’s head. In this class Bev will discuss the techniques of sculpting a baby doll and a procedure for sculpting arms and legs and body proportions in addition to answering any questions. Learn from one of the leading artists of dolls who has been sculpting and designing for major companies for 21 years. This class is for all skill levels, and all materials will be provided. Sculpting a Miniature Sleeping Baby or Fairy Doll

Doll artist, Dianne Mayne, of Dianne Mayne Studio, will teach you to sculpt a 3-inch to 4-inch sleeping miniature baby or baby fairy for display in a sea shell on a bed of deer moss.  No advance skills are required for this class.  All materials are provided including clay and tools or you can bring yoru favorite sculpting tools.  For more information on the class, please contact Dianne at dmf@hiddenhillhollow.com  Cost $145

Wig Magic for Ball-Jointed Dolls with JPOP Dolls  CANCELLED

In this workshop, Grace Szczepaniec of JPOP Dolls will teach how to care, use and restyle BJD doll wigs. In addition, students will learn about fiber and repair of doll wigs.  All materials will be provided to create a fantasy hairstyle. This class is for all skill levels, and attendees should bring a doll of their own. Those wishing to attend should e-mail the wig size of the doll they are bringing to jpopdolls@aol.com. Make Your Own One-Of-A-Kind Victorian Boot for BJDs with Connie Lowe of Marbledhalls

In this class, you will hand-decorate and age a cloth pair of Victorian boots using ribbons, lace, buttons and buckles. An easy project with minimal sewing skills involved. All materials will be provided. Cost: $50

My Buddy Workshop: Make a 10-Inch Mohair Bear or Bunny by Bev White

Make a 10-inch mohair “buddy” bear or bunny for your favorite doll, teddy bear or yourself. Bears or bunnies will be available in a variety of colors for students to choose from. The pre-sewn and jointed bodies of these specially designed animals will allow completion during this class. Attendees will need to provide a sewing kit, variety of sewing needles, small scissors and small pliers. All other materials will be provided. Some skill or dexterity is required. Cost: $100

Make a Smocked Gingham Sundress for your Doll with Sissy Lingle

Students will learn simple counterchange smocking techniques using no pleats and will make a hand-sewn and smocked gingham sundress for 10- to 16-inch dolls. Sissy Lingle will guide students through the hand-sewing stitches needed to complete the dress. Each student will be provided with directions, fabric, embroidery thread, needle and ribbon. Students will need to bring basic sewing kit, scissors and their 10- to 16-inch doll to dress. Some skill or dexterity is required. Cost: $48

Back for a fifth year in a row, Doll Reader will again host its annual Doll Reader Debut of Dolls event in conjunction with its presentation of the 2011 DOTY® Industry’s Choice® awards. Join us for a cocktail before the banquet, be the first to see the 2011 Doll Reader Debut of Dolls special collector’s edition, and take this opportunity to get this collector’s issues signed by your favorite artists!
