           New Orleans C.A.R.E. Free Clinic
The NOLA C.A.R.E Clinic will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 and Wednesday, September 1, 2010.

Our commitment is to all of the patients, and the last patient may not leave the building until 9:00 p.m on both clinic days. Therefore volunteer shifts run until 9:00 p.m.

The deadline for Volunteer Registration is Sunday, August 29, 2010.


  • For all Vounteers, Volunteer Registration will be available ONE HOUR BEFORE YOUR SHIFT START TIME.  Mandatory ORIENTATION will take place promptly beginning at your shift start time.  Orientations will be held on both Tuesday, August 31st and Wednesday, September 1st at the Ernest N Morial Convention Center.   
  • Pre-registration for volunteers is strongly advised.  We cannot guarantee a volunteer opportunity as either a health care professional or support person if you have not pre-registered.
  • Volunteers cannot be seen as patients. 

  • You are required to CHECK IN at the volunteer registration upon arrival.
  • Verification of community service hours worked will be provided upon request.
  • T-Shirts and name badges will be provided to all volunteers; these must be worn during the event. 
  • Food and drinks will be provided for all volunteers.  
  • Casual, modest attire is recommended (scrubs, capris, etc.) Comfortable shoes are a must.  Please no short/belly tops, strapless tops/dress, short shorts or short tops with bare midriffs.  
  • No smoking or pets at this event. 
  • Parking will be paid for by the NAFC.  Parking and directions information will be provided when you receive your follow-up communication from the NAFC. 


  • For medical volunteers the NAFC has purchased malpractice coverage for this event. The limits are 1,000,000/3,000,000 proof of coverage will be available the day of the event.
  • Licensed Professionals (M.D.,R.N., N.P., P.A. etc.) bring proof of your professional licensure if you have not pre-registered. It is recommended you fax a copy of your licensure or your license to 866-875-3827 or you may scan and email to   
  • The NAFC provides all standard diagnostic equipment. If you have a favorite instrument (such as otoscope/ophthalmoscope, phoropter, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, etc), please feel free to bring it with you. 
  • Basic supplies will be available (gloves, hand sanitizer, etc). 
  • If you have prescriptive authority, please bring your own tamper-proof prescription pads.  

- Please see the attached (2) documents (Special Events Permit and Oath or Affirmation Special Events Permit) that you need to fill out and return to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners either via email or fax.  Please let us know when you have submitted the inforamtion to the Board so we may also send a letter from the NAFC supporting your request.  Please fax a copy of your license to 866-875-3827 or you may scan and email it to

- As a professional courtesy the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) DOES NOT REQUIRE nurses providing care in the state for a brief period of time to be licensed in the state.  Please download a copy of the attached form, fill it out and fax the completed form, your license, and drivers license to 225-755-7581.  Please also fax your license to 866-875-3827 or you may scan and email to
