The 2009 annual Indian Energy Solutions conference organized and produced by the Council of Energy Resource Tribes is being held in Tulsa, Oklahoma from November 3rd thru the 5th. It will feature general sessions and special breakout sessions on subjects from global climate change to strategies for increasing production from Indian oil and gas resources; and from Indian issues with renewed power production stemming from the last nuclear power boom to reports on Indian energy policy efforts by Tribes to overcome barriers to Tribal development of Tribal energy resources.
Participating in the conference will be key industry executives, federal agencies and elected Tribal leaders and their professional energy managers and advisors. A major new feature of the conference agenda is a relationship forged between CERT and the Council on Tribal Employment Rights and the National Electrical Contractors Association/International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Consortium. NECA and the IBEW will participate with the Tribes in seeking new ways to bolster Tribal economies by strengthening the capacity of the tribal workforce thru sponsored education and training in cooperation with the Tribes, and for identifying opportunities for Tribes in the assembly, fabrication and manufacturing of renewable energy equipment and technology.
In addition, the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development will provide technical information on panels and at exhibits related to energy development opportunities, impediments and proposed solutions in Indian country as well as recent Federal regulatory policy and process developments.
CERT will also host the 30th Annual American Spirit Award Dinner. Proceeds from the black tie dinner benefit CERT's Indian education programs that are focused on building a skilled and trained professional work force that is vital to the economic success of our communities. This year the Southern Ute Indian Tribe will receive the Award for their commitment in working with Tribes and Tribal communities.
