If you are a Local or District Association Officer or will be soon, don’t miss the 2017 Local Officers Retreat (LOR), held July 16-18 at the University of Richmond. The Retreat is open to all local and district officers. We also strive to include other local and district leadership positions like committee chairs, executive board members, and members-at-large. If registration reaches capacity, we will accommodate officers (i.e. president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) and then include other leadership positions based on the date of registration.
Attending the retreat is a great way to enhance your confidence and skills as an Association Officer. LOR offers valuable content delivered by those who know the roles best. There will be ample time to network with officers from Associations of a similar size, or to talk with participants who have several years of leadership experience under their belts.
You will not want to miss this year’s Monday night social event sponsored by NEA Member Benefits or our special guests, which include NEA Executive Committee Member Dr. Earl Wiman.
The Retreat begins with check-in at 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 16, and ends at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 18. You are urged to also attend the Reggie Smith Organizing School, also held at the University of Richmond, which begins on July 19.
Reggie Smith Organizing School, July 19 – 21, 2017
If you’re looking to make a difference in your local Association on the issues that matter most, join your colleagues at Reggie Smith Organizing School (RSOS) this summer. This informative and fun event runs July 19 – 21 at the University of Richmond. Our theme is, “Educate, Agitate, Organize!”
You will leave our three-day organizing school with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to improve the working and learning conditions where you live and work. Veteran organizers and seasoned colleagues will lead the training. Consider attending with several of your Association colleagues as a team!
When you register for Reggie Smith Organizing School, you’ll either choose one strand or organizing training in three core content areas. This year’s strand is: Promoting Inclusive Policies for LGBTQ Students and School Employees. The three content areas for the general track are political/government relations, strategic growth and mobilization, and professional issues.
