The state of New Hampshire is among the states with the highest rates of opioid overdoses in the U.S. This panel will highlight the state of the opioid epidemic in New Hampshire and the role science can play in helping to tackle this crisis.
New Hampshire Congresswoman Annie Kuster will provide an overview of the state of the opioid crisis in New Hampshire and highlight the work she has been leading as the Founder and Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force.
Director of the Dartmouth Center for Technology and Behavioral Health, Dr. Lisa Marsch, will present findings from the "New Hampshire HotSpot Study", a NIDA-funded rapid epidemiological study that examined the confluence of factors that have given rise to the disproportionately high rate of opioid overdoses in New Hampshire.
Several innovative programs at Dartmouth and in communities statewide that focus on the treatment and prevention of opioid use disorders and related harms will be highlighted, followed by an interactive audience discussion with the panel.
