Participants are required to use their own laptop computer to complete hands-on work during each session of the class. Please full-charge your device and bring the power cord to prevent battery loss.
In this course, you will learn to:
1. Create a website using WordPress as a CMS (Content Management System)
2. Choose and install WordPress themes and plugins.
3. Create visually appealing webpages that include images, photo galleries and videos.
A little about Mark:
Mark Heffington is currently the director of web development at UCA. In this capacity, he oversees the university website, as well as managing the official UCA Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram social media accounts.
Mark started using WordPress in 2010, and by 2012 he had migrated over 150 UCA sites to WordPress. Today, uca.edu receives 12 million page views per year and is made up of more than 200 sites and 500 content editors, all in WordPress.
Mark began his career at UCA as a student worker. After graduating in 2004 with a bachelor’s in business administration, he became an applications programmer in the Office of Web Development. He became director of web development in 2014.
