Exploring ​the ​Path ​of ​Practice

ABHIJATA ​IYENGAR ​is ​the ​grand-daughter ​of ​Yogacharya ​B.K.S ​Iyengar. ​She ​started ​seriously ​studying ​yoga ​at ​the ​age ​of ​16 ​under ​the ​direct ​guidance ​of ​ ​Guruji, ​ ​her ​aunt, ​Dr. ​Geeta ​S. ​Iyengar ​and ​her ​uncle, ​Prashant ​S. ​Iyengar. ​She ​has ​a ​Master’s ​degree ​in ​Bioinformatics ​from ​University ​of ​Pune. ​She ​is ​now ​ ​a ​Senior ​Teacher ​at ​the ​Ramamani ​Iyengar ​Memorial ​Yoga ​Institute ​(RIMYI), ​– ​the ​cradle ​of ​Iyengar ​yoga ​– ​located ​in ​Pune, ​India. ​Abhijata ​travelled ​with ​Guruji ​to ​Iyengar ​Yoga ​Conventions ​in ​ ​Russia ​and ​China. ​She ​has ​accompanied ​Geetaji ​to ​International ​Yoga ​Conventions ​in ​the ​UK, ​Australia, ​Germany ​and ​the ​United ​States. ​ ​She ​has ​also ​led ​yoga ​conventions ​in ​the ​United ​States, ​France, ​Spain, ​Italy, ​Switzerland, ​Poland, ​the ​UK ​and ​Israel.

Abhijata ​is ​gifted ​ ​teacher. ​She ​has ​great ​energy, ​clarity ​and ​poise. ​ ​Her ​teachings ​combine ​precise ​asana ​instructions ​with ​yoga ​philosophy. ​ ​She ​generously ​shares ​delightful ​ ​anecdotes ​of ​her ​grandfather ​as ​well.

The ​Iyengar ​Yoga ​National ​Association ​of ​the ​United ​States ​— ​IYNAUS ​— ​disseminates ​the ​teachings ​of ​B. ​K. ​S. ​Iyengar ​and ​his ​family.

Both ​teachers ​and ​students ​of ​Iyengar ​Yoga ​are ​welcome ​to ​register. ​The ​only ​requirement ​is ​a ​study ​of ​Iyengar ​yoga ​for ​three ​years ​or ​more ​and ​IYNAUS ​membership. ​ ​International ​attendees ​are ​required ​to ​be ​a ​current ​member ​of ​their ​national ​Iyengar ​association. ​ ​
For ​IYNAUS ​members, ​membership ​dues ​must ​be ​paid ​in ​current ​status ​to ​attend ​the ​2019 ​convention. ​IYNAUS ​members ​can ​pay ​their ​dues ​by ​visiting ​iynaus.org. ​International ​registrants ​can ​pay ​their ​dues ​and ​certification ​mark ​fees ​through ​their ​national ​member ​associations.
