PADDLE GEORGIA FALL FLOAT ON THE FLINT
OCTOBER 6-8, 2018
Register by September 30, 2018
Join Georgia River Network Columbus Day weekend 2018 for a voyage on the Flint River that would fill Christopher Columbus with envy.
We'll travel 48 miles on the Flint from just south of Albany to just north of Bainbridge taking in the best of the Flint--beautiful blue hole springs, lively shoals, rich history, abundant wildlife and more! Fashioned after our annual week-long Paddle Georgia events, we'll tent camp at Rocky Bend Flint River Retreat for three nights. Like our annual summer adventure, we'll enjoy catered meals, educational programs and great camaraderie as we make our way down one of Georgia's most beautiful rivers during a beautiful time of year. Tent camping only with limited options for indoor camping. Registration fees include three dinners, breakfasts and lunches with your choice of lunch sandwich as well as all transportation to and from the river each day as well as shuttles allowing you to pick up your boat a the end of the journey.
Past participants will note that this is a shorter journey than in previous years. We've shortened the first day of the trip from 20-plus miles to about 12 miles!
Why does Georgia River Network (GRN) offer this paddle trip?
All of GRN's paddle trips are family-friendly. It's a priority of GRN's to offer ways for friends and family to share time together building memories. And what better place to do this than outside on a river! The great thing about a trip like this is that, by the end of the trip, EVERYONE is like one big family. Many life-long friendships have been born out of GRN paddles.
ENJOYMENT OF THE OUTDOORS
Spending time outdoors is fun and healthy! On Fall Float on the Flint, you get the chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of the usual day-to-day for four days. Paddling down a river, you see and experience nature in a way that just isn't possible driving down a road. Whether it's sightseeing or having water gun fights or educating yourself on water issues or meeting new people or having meaningful conversations or exploring the local area you are paddling through or meditating in nature, Fall Float on the Flint offers something special for everyone from all walks of life and all ages.
GRN's mission is to engage and empower Georgians to protect, restore and enjoy our rivers from the mountains to the coast. One way in which we do this on Fall Float on the Flint is through educating participants on the river's animal life, plant life, water issues, and much more. GRN believes that if you enjoy your rivers, you'll care about your rivers. And if you care about your rivers, you'll want to learn more about them and how you, too, can help protect and restore them.
Fall Float on the Flint 2018 is produced in partnership with Flint Riverkeeper which will receive a grant from GRN in exchange for services provided during the journey. As most know, GRN is a not-for-profit organization. This means we depend solely on grants and donations to do the work we do. If you believe in what we are doing, we hope you will find one or more ways to financially support us. Below are just a couple ways you can do this.
