The purpose of this activity is to enable or enhance the RN’s knowledge of risk, incidence
and mitigation strategies regarding inside attendant decompression sickness.
At the end of this presentation the attendee will be able to:
1. Contrast low incidence against considerable risk of inside attendant decompression sickness.
2. Summarize the evolution of inside attendant decompression sickness mitigation strategies and propose
decompression protocols as a function of chamber treatment pressure.
3. Encourage adoption of population based longitudinal studies of inside attendants in order to formulate
standardized health screening, risk assessment and safer decompression.
