This is the 41st anniversary of the Miami Design Preservation League's Art Deco Weekend. Once again, the highly-respected, 3-day community cultural festival on South Beach's famed Ocean Drive will deliver over 150,000 consumers and offer a variety of entertainment with over 85 events. There simply is no better venue or audience !
The Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) and its founder, Barbara Baer Capitman, created Art Deco Weekend in 1976 to bring awareness and appreciation to the iconic skyline of Art Deco buildings on Ocean Drive. The festival was the catalyst to save the largest collection of Art Deco architecture concentrated in one small area in the world. Further, the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District is the first and largest Art Deco District in the United States to be recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
With that mission accomplished, there is still more to do! MDPL continues to preserve, promote and protect our city through historic preservation and education initiatives, as well as through cultural awareness. Your participation in Art Deco Weekend helps make this possible, and we thank you for your support.
Please note that our vendors, the products/merchandise they sell, and their presentation/booth display are very important visual and educational elements of MDPL's Art Deco Weekend. The Art Deco Weekend Planning Committee will review and will retain approval rights for all vendors to ensure all participants meet the highest possible quality standards of the Miami Design Preservation League.
