Description

The ​Tony Robbins ​Global ​Youth ​Leadership ​Summit ​(GYLS) ​is ​a ​five-day ​program ​providing ​an ​environment ​designed ​to ​boost ​summit ​participants ​into ​leadership ​roles ​that ​will ​change ​their ​lives ​and ​that ​of ​their ​communities. ​The format ​of ​GYLS ​includes ​small ​group ​discussions, ​hands-on ​service ​learning ​experiences, ​leadership ​simulation ​games ​and ​exercises. ​Dynamic ​keynote ​speakers ​from ​around ​the ​world ​present ​topics ​designed ​to ​enable ​summit ​participants ​to ​identify ​their ​own ​particular ​leadership ​strengths. ​At ​the ​conclusion ​of ​GYLS, ​participants ​are ​encouraged ​to ​identify ​personal ​goals ​and ​a ​commitment ​to ​community ​service.

SCHEDULE:
Monday, ​July ​29: ​Staff, ​Team ​Leaders, ​Youth ​Leaders, ​Captains, ​and ​Youth ​Captains ​arrive
Tuesday, ​July ​30: ​Ambassadors ​and ​Alumni ​arrive
Wednesday, ​July ​31 ​to ​Saturday, ​August ​3: ​Program ​Dates
Sunday, ​August ​4: ​Departures ​- ​All ​youth ​participants ​must ​depart ​campus ​no ​later ​than ​11 ​AM ​PST.

LOCATION: ​ University ​of ​San ​Diego ​Campus, San ​Diego, ​California, ​USA ​

Housing ​will ​be ​provided ​on ​campus ​in ​dormitories.


APPLICATION ​INSTRUCTIONS:

APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. WE ACCEPT APPLICATIONS UNTIL ALL SPOTS ARE FILLED. IT IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGE FOR ALL TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR THE BEST ODDS OF BEING ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM.

1. Your ​initial ​application ​needs ​to ​be ​completed ​in ​one ​session. ​You ​have ​a ​total ​of ​120 ​minutes ​(2 ​hours) ​per ​session ​to ​complete ​the ​application ​before ​it ​timeouts ​and ​resets ​without ​saving.

2. Please ​have ​the ​documents, ​listed ​below, ​ready ​PRIOR ​to ​starting ​your ​application. ​

3. Remember ​to ​allocate ​enough ​time ​in ​your ​schedule ​to ​complete ​application. ​ ​Application ​can ​only ​be ​saved ​upon ​submission. ​

4. Approximate ​completion ​time ​is ​30-60 ​minutes ​for ​Ambassadors. ​Approximate ​completion ​time ​is ​60+ ​minutes ​for ​Alumni, ​Youth ​Leaders, ​Youth ​Captains, ​and ​Captains. ​

AMBASSADOR ​& ​ALUMNI ​PROGRAM ​FEES: ​
Ambassador ​and ​Alumni ​Participants ​who ​apply ​prior ​to ​Monday, April ​1, ​2019 ​will ​receive ​early ​bird ​pricing ​of ​$650 ​if ​and ​when ​approved. ​Fees ​after ​Monday, April 1, 2019 ​are ​$750. ​

Please ​note ​any ​payments ​submitted after Wednesday, May 1, 2019 ​are ​non-refundable.

HAVE ​THE ​FOLLOWING ​DOCUMENTATION ​READY:

  • Current ​Photo
  • Photo ​I.D. ​or ​Passport: This document must have the date of birth to verify the age. It cannot be a personal photo. ​
  • One ​(1) ​Letter ​of ​Recommendation ​from ​teacher, ​counselor, ​mentor, ​employer, ​etc. ​from ​someone ​outside ​the ​GYLS ​and ​Tony ​Robbins ​environment ​and ​has ​not ​participated. ​Letter ​should ​be ​typed ​on ​official ​letterhead, ​include ​contact ​information ​with ​title ​and ​position ​and ​be ​dated ​within ​the ​current ​year. ​
  • List ​of ​previous ​volunteer ​or ​community ​service ​projects. ​ ​ Note: ​Youth ​Leaders, ​Youth ​Captains, ​and ​Captains ​will ​be ​required ​to ​upload ​an ​outline ​listing ​name ​of ​organizations, ​contact ​information, ​volunteer ​hours, ​services ​performed, ​and ​skills ​learned ​from ​each ​experience. ​


AGE ​REQUIREMENTS ​& ​ROLES: ​ All ​youth ​attendees ​range ​from ​14 ​to ​17 ​years ​old. ​


Ambassador ​(14-16) - Waitlist Only: ​First ​time ​participants ​who ​have NEVER ​attended ​a ​previous ​GYLS. Waitlisted.

Alumni ​(15-17): No longer accepting applications. ​ Returning ​participants ​who ​have ​been ​to ​ONE ​previous ​GYLS ​and ​have ​the ​desire ​to ​further ​their ​Leadership ​skills ​in ​addition ​to ​helping ​guide ​the ​first-time ​Ambassador ​participants. No longer accepting applications; at capacity.

Youth ​Leader ​(16-18): ​The ​highest ​level ​of ​applicants, ​Youth ​Leaders ​have ​previously been to GYLS ​as ​an ​Ambassador ​AND ​as an ​Alumni. ​Application ​will ​be ​reviewed ​and ​nominated ​by ​​Team ​Leaders ​from ​the ​previous ​year’s ​Summits. Highly competitive role, with less than 20 accepted.

Youth ​Captain ​(18-21): ​ ​Youth ​Captains ​have ​attended ​the ​previous ​​years ​as ​a ​youth ​participant ​(Ambassador, ​Alumni, ​and/or ​Youth ​Leader). ​ ​They ​are ​returning ​to ​support ​the ​event ​from ​a ​logistical ​standpoint ​and ​the ​Captains ​in ​their ​role.

Captain ​(22+): ​Captains ​are ​adult ​leaders ​who ​have ​a ​desire ​to ​help ​today’s ​youth ​become ​tomorrow’s ​leaders. They serve as adult chaperones and provide logistical support throughout program.

**NOTE: ​ALL INDIVIDUALS MUST HAVE COMPLETED AN APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE PROGRAM. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. ​If ​application ​and ​profile ​are ​not ​filled ​out ​prior ​to ​event, ​the ​applicant ​will ​not ​be ​permitted ​to ​attend. ​
