About the Judgement of Paris
The Judgment of Paris was a wine competition held in Paris on May 24, 1976 that changed the view of California wines forever. Organized by Steven Spurrier, the competition was a blind tasting pitting French wines against Californian wines. Much to everyone’s surprise, the Californian wines took first place, putting Napa Valley on the map.
