A child’s early experiences are greatly improved when their family and school work together as partners. Effective two-way communication is essential to fostering working partnerships between school and families. However, there are many barriers that make it difficult to establish and maintain this kind of communication. We will discuss strategies for overcoming these barriers and make plans to strengthen our relationships with families through a variety of communication strategies.
In this workshop participants will: a) discuss strategies for overcoming barriers to building strong family partnerships and effective two-way communication; b) develop a plan to strengthen an existing tool used to communicate with families; c) create a new plan for two-way communication between school and families. This workshop is designed for teachers, directors and family child care providers. Participants limited to 20.
Core Knowledge Area: Advanced Specialized Care (ASC), Families & Communities (FC), Professionalism (P)
Course Fee: None
