Heather Nemour, MA
Heather Nemour is a Project Specialist for the San Diego County Office of Education, Student Support Services: Student Wellness & Positive School Climate. She provides coaching, technical assistance and support to the 42 school districts across the county. She is a certified trainer in Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid, Restorative Practices, Developmental Assets, PREPARE and Standards of Quality Family Strengthening & Support. Ms. Nemour has eighteen years of leadership experience coordinating school-based support services in Chula Vista, California. She was instrumental in the development and sustainability of five school-based Family Resource Centers that support over 70 schools in the South Bay. Ms. Nemour received her BS in Sociology and MA in Sociological Practice both at California State University, San Marcos.
The attendee will be able to:
Recognize signs and symptoms of mental illnesses in adolescents, including, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, ADHD.
Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use.
How to interact with an adolescent in crisis.
How to connect the adolescent to help.
Participants will not be certified after this overview. An 8 hour course is required for certification. Information regarding certification courses will be available at this training.
